How We Work
How We Work
Refugee and migrant children have difficulty attending school because of safety, economic hardships, transportation restrictions and perceived legal status. That’s where we’ve focused our efforts. We work with carefully-chosen local partner shelters, local community leaders and local government agencies to bring quality education to places with the greatest need and serve the most vulnerable populations of refugee and migrant children.
Our Approach
We work with the local community in finding refugee and migrant shelters with the most need. These are often local shelters that temporarily house refugees and migrants while they are in transit. The local shelters provide housing, washrooms and a safe place to rest for families. We partner with the local shelters that are in need of an education program and house a large population of children.
We work with local partners to build safe school spaces, provide full time education programs and ensure a stable learning environment for refugee and migrant children. These programs are operated within local shelters or next door ensuring easy and safe access for every child.
We remain committed to developing this programming to each specific community we serve in order to better address the needs of each population.
Local Partners
Our carefully-chosen local partners have a community-centered approach, excellent care for the populations they serve and work directly with us to ensure the most impact.
How does Yes We Can choose local partners?
Our team spends weeks conversing with partners and visiting their shelter to fully understand how they work and their needs. This process ensures that each program will have long lasting impact on the child population and helps us address the greatest needs.
What does Yes We Can expect from local partners?
Our partners share our vision to provide full time quality education to children temporarily residing in the partners shelter and accomplish lasting change. In addition to providing education programming we work with our local partners to provide health aid, trauma resilience and family assistance.
